Num Lock

OK, stupid question, but I was playing around with an older iBook G4 from 2005, and it has this key called the num lock. Any idea what it does?

Just wondering.

Just wondering.

It makes a subset of the keyboard act like a numeric keypad. There should be alternate legends on the keys involved.
