Corrupt Finder preferences? Is it still safe to delete in 10.7.4?

Since the sidebar always comes back with old setup at restart, Finder Prefs must be corrupt, though Cocktail says OK. We once just deleted corrupt prefs. Is that still safe in 10.7.4?
