For the most part, I really like the podcast ap. My issue is that the podcasts that I am subscribed to seem to auto-download old content, cluttering up my library with podcasts that I've already listened to. I tend to listen to podcasts and then delete them, but it keeps downloading them automatically. I open up the ap to find that my podcast has 420 new episodes! Even this would be OK if there was a way to delete multiple podcasts.
Can anybody let me know how I can manage this so that it stops happening, and/or let me know if there's a way that I can delete multiple episodes? It takes forever to go through the library and delete 400 episodes, and is extra frustrating when you know it's only going to auto-download them a week later.
I have my setting set to only keep unplayed episodes, but it doesn't auto-delete played episodes. Any help would be appreciated.
Hands on with Apple's Podcasts for iOS

Sack everyone responsible for the Podcasts app, ban them from Apple property, and sue them on behalf of the shareholders and end users. What were Apple thinking? Where is the elegance? For that matter, where is the functionality?
Instead of a decent scrub function, we get a ridiculous "reel to reel" look where the scrub function barely works at all (it's almost impossible to get an accurate shot at where the tiny, tiny pointer will end up) when your device isn't plugged into a dock connector, and causes uncontrollable skipping when it is. Instead of a decent AutoPlay function, we get one that doesn't work when the device is docked. (It kicks out to the first song in the overall music library, to the point where even though I like the first song in mine, I'm actually getting tired of it!) Instead of podcast-to-playlist functionality, we get...well, nothing.
Apple has really started to put out terrible apps lately.

Yeah - use an intelligent podcast app like downcast. The amount of flexibility for playlists and downloads is simply amazing. Well worth the buck or two it cost me. Geofencing to download episodes only when I am within wifi is the bees knees. It has displaced the music app on my dock!

Some people complain about maps, but maps is fabulous in compared to this horrible horrible app. Best quote I read:
"Sack everyone responsible for the Podcasts app, ban them from Apple property, and sue them on behalf of the shareholders and end users. What were Apple thinking? Where is the elegance? For that matter, where is the functionality?"
