Can someone help me to access a website whose address has been given me by the Subscription Dept of MacWorld? This may seem a strange request but using Safari/ Firefox/Chrome they ALL change the address (as soon as I click to open it) and say "Cannot open ….."
When I tell this to MacWorld they only say "try using a different browser such as Explorer".
This seems crazy, what's wrong with the 3 I have already tried? Why not Mac's own browser called Safari?

The background to this is that I am in the UK and I have taken the UK MacWorld mag for years but it is now very poor, presumably to save money. I would like to try the USA version (even though it would be much dearer with postage to UK). I have bought a digital copy but I do not like this format. I like to sit and thumb through the pages, not stare at it on screen.
MW USA do sell (paper) back copies and have given me a website address but this gives the result outlined above, so I have got nowhere.

ALSO, when I show this address in a post on the Forum it is shortened with a lot of dots in the middle. Quite insane! I found this out when I "reviewed" a post.
Perhaps the following method will let the addresses go through untouched :-
h t t p : / / w w w . m a c w o r l d . c o m / s t o r e / b a c k i s s u e s
When clicked this gets changed to h t t p : / / m a c w o r l d . b u y s u b . c o m /

If anyone can help me I shall be very grateful.

ardent, I'll reply to your post by e-mail since I need to request some clarification about what you mean.

I think the people you've talked to at MW were confused about what you were trying to do or seeing. The behavior you're experiencing is the server redirecting your browser to a different domain. It's not an uncommon practice, but obviously you'd want to direct people to a page that actually exists.

When you post a bare URL into the forum it's shortened just for brevity of presentation. The whole URL is still there and clickable.
