Hello all.

I am at my wits end. I have converted over to iCloud when Apple made the announcement a few months ago. I am using a PowerBook G4 running OS/X 10.4.11 and Mail 2.12. It's a setup that has served me quite well for 7 years.

My incoming mail works well but, my outgoing mail does not work. So, I just use one of my other fully-functional accounts for the outgoing or both.

Normally Apple Mail would get my .mac e-mail without a problem. Today, I encountered the following error when I tried to get mail from my mac.com/.mac/icloud account;

==
Connection failed

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "gulmatan [.mac account]" or try again.
==
With the usual 'Stay Offline' and 'Go Online' buttons underneath

My question is what are the full Incoming and outgoing configurations for AppleMail 2.1 with my mac.com (.mac, MobileMe, whatever it's called nowadays) account.

Thank you

The iCloud mail server settings are documented here. There's one point where I believe it will "recognize" what you've entered as a .Mac or MobileMe server and try to be helpful. You can stop it from doing that by holding down the option key; one of the buttons will change title and it'll let you continue with manual setup. Sorry; not on a Mac right now so I can't be more specific.
