I have the earlier model the iD8 but it does not work with my iPhone or iPod. It works great with my iPad as a speaker. The speaker does not work with the iPhone or with my iPod.

I use it to charge my iPhone or iPad in my office. I even tried purchasing a cable extender but that still did not work with either device.

I even called iHome tech support but they couldn't tell me why it didn't work. I hope this new model works better.

I bought one of these about a year ago and I am still waiting for the remote to be available
The page for the link "optional ($20) Rz7 remote control" has been down ever since I purchased the unit.
If you want a remote don't buy the iD9
