I had a similar issue with one of our OSX apps. It took months to get Apple to fix the problem and pull most of the reviews. A few reviews were left and our average rating took a hit because of it. I am a pretty rabid Apple fan but I was less than thrilled with how they handled the problem, and how much effort it took to get them to deal with it. I CCed the emails to the editors here in case they thought the processes was worth commenting on. The email thread went between very concerned and helpful, to comically unattached, and back and forth again.
Life, like wine, is all about balance.

I have a similar problems with some apps crashing immediately when I try to open them, but it's not to do with any updates.

I just upgraded to iCloud from MobileMe and set my iPad to back up automatically to iCloud. As soon as I did this, several apps that I purchased from the UK iTunes store will no longer launch. (My home is in the USA but I also have a UK iTunes account). Some of the apps, e.g., BBC iPlayer, are not available on the US iTunes store which is why I purchased them in the UK. They worked perfectly before (using a UK-based VPN) but now appear to be dead.

Any suggestions?

We get this all the time with very big apps like our dictionaries -American Heritage, Longman etc.
We ask users to delete the binary and download again.

Ignoring other App Store issues (no demos/trials, no betas, no paid upgrades, no guaranteed refunds), the store infrastructure apparently isn't nearly as robust as it should be, especially for the size of the huge (worldwide) market. (:-(

I know it's somewhat off topic but does anyone know if Mac OS 10.7 Server is ready for released yet?

This also happened to new less popular apps. I got PocketRay and it didn't work. Now my 1-star is pulled and the app is working great.
