Chrome for iOS nearly worthy of default browser status

For the life of me, I can't figure out what is so great about a unified search bar. Having a dedicated search filed makes it much easier to get back to a search of you didn't open it in a new tab, and makes entering urls much quicker, because typing jyst 'apple' doesn't first trigger a search but goes directly to apple.com.
For Mountain Lion, I'm sure some extension will be available soon enough to reenable a dedicated search box for those who want it, but on iOS 6, I guess we'll be out of luck...:-(

Can you specify a default browser in iOS, one that opens instead of Safari when you tap a link?

From what I have read, isn't Chrome for IOS just a Webkit browser married to a UI similar to Chrome? I mean even Google said it was not allowed to use some of its fastest technology.
So if your not happy with it. Then its Apple fault and not Google who appears to be handicapped in trying to get the app approved. Which I guess its typical of Apple when it see's competition.
