“People feel that China has no innovation, that companies here just copy. But this is a misunderstanding,” Yuan said. “We are a leader in our field, and we have created our own innovation.”

How many ways can the above equation be programmed? I can't apply for a patent for the process (too many ways), I CAN apply for the result. Ergo, any procedure that results in an answer of 2, must be licensed from me. I'll see you in court.

So you would agree that it's equally ridiculous to hold a patent for a "universal search" box or a "wedge shape" for a computer?

Intel tried placing a trademark on numbers "486" and failed. that's why they came up with Pentium II and so on. Only numbers I know that can have a patent is a bunch of 000s and 1111s in the right order creating something useable. Apparently China has finally got around to placing patents on stuff they have stolen. They can lie about when they came up with the knowledge just like they lie about the age of their Olympic athletes. Innovators my arse.

China is innovative in is manipulating it's currency and suing Apple. If you can't beat them go after them in a Chinese court. Why not go after the company that engineered Siri. Apple paid for the technology. The reason is Apple has more money. Why not go after the Taiwanese company who sold the name iPad? Maybe because the company who sold the name is owned by the company who sued Apple for it. Most of these Chinese lawsuits would never be heard in an American court. The new Snow Leopard lawsuit is even more ridiculous. It's the name of an animal. The word Xuebao in no way can be confused with the word Snow Leopard. If so why not sue Apple years ago when they began using it? It wasn't worth as much money then.
Credit China with the 99 cent store.
