I am also posting this in an other forum in hopes to solve a problem in the Mac mail app.

A friend of ours has a MacBook Pro running 10.7.4. She uses Yahoo mail and probably Yahoo Mail Plus. In the Mac Mail app, on the left side panel there is a Yahoo identifier with a folder named "Unrecovered files". In this folder is over 1900 identical copies of a six month old power point file which filled up her hard dive. We selected all of those files and tried to deleted them but got an error message that not enough disk space. Then tried selecting several of those files at a time and pressing the Mail delete button and also dragging them in the trash in the dock. Nothing was moved to the trash and the count remained at 1942.
I don't think the unrecovered files are locked. She looked at the Yahoo Mail account and the email message was not there. Ran repair disk permissions but that did not help. Her next step is to take the Mac to the Apple store next week to get more help. Any thoughts here?

he solution was to find the file from the finder but the file name in the mail box, a three word file name, was not found on the hard drive using the search function. The name in the finder was a five digit number with an extension (which I can not remember). The files were identified by the creation date and time of day. The files were found in Users> Library> Mail> Mail boxes > Yahoo Unrecovered Messages. I trashed the 1,942 files then empted the trash which freed up 220 GB of her 250 GB drive, she had only used 30 GB. In the Mail app the three word file name was still in the Unrecovered Messages folder. Those "files" were trashed in the Mail app and then empted that trash, then Repair Disk Permissions.
