You can also save yourself $8 and go into System Preferences and change the keyboard shortcut for Quit, eg. to Command-alt-Q.

Definitely not worth the $8 on it's own - but given the fact that it's not that hard to create our own keyboard shortcuts, too? I'm not sure whom I'm more ashamed of... The greedy developer that created this incredible moot software with the desire to make $8 a pop on it, or MacWorld for being so desperate for a story this morning that this is the news they gave us.

He would sell a lot more if priced at $1. He is crazy!

Holy-friggin'-cow: Eight dollars for a one-trick pony, when most of the apps in the app store are to be had for 99 cents? Simply no.

Why not simply a quit confirmation dialog box? Confirm by pressing the space bar. Simple and quick. Also, don't most applications like word processors already warn you if you have unsaved changes when you try to quit?

Check out KeyRemap4MacBook http://pqrs.org/maco...yremap4macbook/ -- it desperately needs a new name., but the price is right - FREE - and it gives me all the functionality I need when it comes to the Command-Q gotcha. Letting me either apply a timed hold delay or pressing command-q twice to actually quit an app.

Is it just me, but I do not seem to have problems like this. I use a regular QWERTY keyboard and when I want to quit an App I press Command+Q and when I want to close a window I press Command+W, etc. Maybe I am one of the lucky computer users not to have issues with the standard commands?

Some people are not touch typists. Some people use non-backlit keyboards in dark rooms. I have definitely hit Command-Q when intending to hit Command-Tab or Command-1.

Thanks for the tip on the free alternative. Several commenters have missed that a simple remapping is not the point. The point is to have a delay or a confirmation.

It's also not just a matter of losing work. I use apps that have a long shut down and/or startup time. The inconvenience is reason enough to want a confirmation on quit.

Could you be so kind as to give us a hint on how to set up what you did with KeyRemap4MacBook? I can't get it to work.

Thanks!
