Hello all,

Out of great excitement about iBooks Author, I tried the recipe: How to Install iBooks Author on Snow Leopard on page: http://www.thewiredh...n-snow-leopard/

Having followed the steps, I installed iBooks Author and which ran but none of the drop down menus, like File, would respond. I was alarmed and I uninstalled the iBooks Author.

Unfortunately, when I use any of the iWorks applications, none of them work. They open as they usually did but the drop down menus don't respond any more. Similarly, when I open already prepared files in pages, keynote etc. they fail to open. I am allowed to see the preview though.

Lastly, iTunes doesn't open at all saying: "An unknown error (-50) has occured". Even the disk utility would report a problem with version.

I thought that by installing OsX Lion, I would be able to get rid of this problem but OsX Lion would not install at all. It would say something like: This Mac OSx is too new for the version you are trying to install.

Does any know how to fix this problem. I will be grateful.

Probably you got a virus. Remember: Before you click on any installer, check it for virus. If this is the worst, you might have to format. I didn't download the software of fear that I might get the virus too...

while I seriously doubt it's a virus... i do believe you have conflicts.

check your startup and make sure that the offending program isn't in there. remove it if it is.

open activity monitor and see if the offending program is in there... kill it if it is.

remove all parts of that app when you have it all killed and see if your system rights itself.

You didn't follow all of the steps in the article and things querying the OS version still think you're running some version of Lion. Go back through the article and find the place where you were supposed to restore the version number to its original value.
