No article on Mac battery life is complete without slamming Apple for its stubborn and inexplicable refusal to license MagSafe connectors to third parties. Of course the Apple sealed-in battery designs only exacerbate the problem by making it impossible to swap in a fresh battery.

Note: I do have a HyperJuice external battery, but its cumbersomeness is made even worse because Apple forced HyperJuice to not include MagSafe cord. There is nothing light, thin, sleek or chic about a MBAir tethered to a separate battery pack by a clumsy cord with a clumsier array of connectors.

Also when you have your phone on Airplane Mode, you can still have the wi-fi enabled. Just put the phone on airplane mode first and then go back and turn on the wi-fi. I leave my wi-fi on and I go into the message settings and turn off iMessage (because all of my friends have iPhones). I also use my "Do Not Disturb" feature a lot, especially at night.
