Question: Is it possible for a Time Capsule to be "adapted" in some way that I can use it for sharing files, calendar and contacts without going outside my home (ie., no Internet connection)?

I don't know if you can put network files on a Time Capsul (perhaps someone else can answer that) but you most certainly can attach a cheap USB drive to the TC. If you also want to attach a networked USB printer to the TC's single USB port, you may use a USB hub but that hub should be externally powered.

The internal drive on a TC is definitely available for file sharing in addition to just being a Time Machine target. And you don't need a self-powered hub to attach multiple devices unless you intend for any of those devices to be bus-powered which I really can't recommend. And the TC really can't act as a calendar or contacts server.
