A nice idea, but a lot of my net usage occurs with my Mac turned off( streaming over WIFI to my internet-enabled Blu-ray player/TV ), so this won't help.

My understanding is that it doesn't need to run constantly. It simply queries your router for usage data.
If you want to SEE the data though, you'll have to turn your Mac on and launch the app.

But you have to turn on the software regularly before the router flips over its usage counters. That can really confuse things. Also, its main advantage comes when it is left running, so you can see spikes and time of day trends.

My complaints about it are relatively minor. I want it to do a better job honoring standard shortcuts (CMD-W to close window without quitting for example). I do have a moderate wish list for the product, such as more precise information, more different graphs for different traffic types, etc. Even if all it could do is indicate what traffic is your computer vs what is everything else on your network, that would help at times. The predictions are a bit silly at times, especially at the start of a month. They should be based on a rolling past 30 days, rather than just the current month.

I have a DSL modem and two Airport Extremes. Which would I have NetUse query? The article says the router, but wouldn't I want it to query the modem as each router has different traffic? Or am I just thinking wrong?
