I am a salesman and would like to use my new iPad professionally. I need to be able to open PDF's and Excell files quickly as my customer visits are short. Also these files should be synchronized from my PC at home and be available with no wifi or 3G connectivity. I have tried DocstoGo, but find it lacking in speed, it just takes to long to load a pdf page....
Any recommendations as to an app who could suit my needs? Thanks in advance!

For PDF files, there a LOTs of PDF apps out there for the iPad. If you just need to open and read the PDF and not edit it/mark it up, then the built-in iBook app works rather well with PDFs. If you need more functionality, then I use iAnnotate.
For Excel files, you will want something like DocsToGo or QuickOffice.
The other option for both as long as you ONLY want to read the PDFs or Excel files is DropBox. It will certainly handle the syncing part. And it does have a function to save "Favorites" for offline use (i.e. when you have no connectivity). And it has a built-in view that will handle PDFs, Excel files, and Word files.

If you just want to view PDF's and Excel files the fastest way that I've found is to Email them to myself as attachments. You then view them on your iPad using Mail's Quick Look function. Just tap on the Email attachment to view it. Tap and hold if you have other apps on your iPad that can open it. Make sure your attachment has been downloaded to your iPad, by tapping on it, before heading out into the field. If you want to get fancy you can create a Mailbox to keep the files in.
From the iPad User Guide For iOS 6.1 Software:
Quick Look supports the following document types:

I should add that if you give a descriptive title for the attachment in the subject line of the Email you send yourself, and you've created a mailbox for those Emails, you now have a searchable file system.
