I am having difficulties in reading the some information displayed in grey letters in iCal. Is there any way to make them darker so that I could read more easily?

What information, specifically, do you want to make darker?
If one of your calendars displays in grey, you can change it. Select that calendar in the calendar list and choose Get Info from the Edit menu. There will be a drop-down menu of standard colors at the top right. If you don't like any of them, select "Other…" at the bottom of the menu and use the standard color picker.
If you mean that calendar dates from the end of the preceding month and the beginning of the following month are greyed out in Month view, it's supposed to work that way. If you need to see the date numbers in black, go back or forward to that month's display.
If you mean that times are in grey numbers down the side in Day and Week views, that's how it is. There may be a fancy way to change those with a Terminal command, but I don't know it.
If something else is in grey letters, please tell us what it is.
(This is based on iCal 4.0.4. Other versions may behave a bit differently, but the concepts should be similar.)
