This post was typed on an iMac G4. I have since upped the hdd to a 500gb and even with newer macs, I plan on keeping this one for purposes like music and old games until it pretty much kills over. Everyone always admires it when they visit me. And yes, NOTHING compares to that display arm.

This was my first Mac. It's design beauty allowed me to have a computer in the lounge - something that my wife would never agree to with PC designs at the time. I fell in love with OS X and never went back to Windows.

I have bought and sold many Macs since then, but I never parted with "Bob" (my nickname for this machine). It sits like a gallery piece with pride of place among other art pieces in our quiet room. Quite the most phenomenal piece of aesthetic and ergonomic design.

And.... It still runs like a champ. I've upgraded the HD and added a SuperDrive as well as maxing the ram. I rarely use it, but it boots on request and runs Lion just fine (although Panther was snappier).

How, pray tell, is it running Lion?

Not only is the design still amazing and futuristic, it's one of the few Apple designs that's yet to be copied by competitors.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering that too. Did you gut it out and stick a Intel Mac Mini in there?

I'm going to give the OP a little credit and just assume it was an honest mistake. :)

Just got Lion confused with the real king of the jungle?

That is absolutely true said: The iMac G4 was the model which drove me away from my longtime windows area. And I have since the never regret it! My wife still says: Now you have nothing to do anymore: No configuration files, boot.ini, optimizations, etc.

It's one of the Macs I still wish I had.

I had one too , I sold it few years ago and then in the spring of last year I wanted it back.
I was so lucky to be able to find mine: I did an exchange with a powerpc laptop and I got it
I had to replace the speakers (lucky again to find a working pair
for 15 bucks in a used pc store!)
I wish you the same

I bought my mother one of these in 2005, a huge (at the time) 20" beauty. It was particularly good for her because she has neck and back problems, and the ability to effortlessly change height and angle of the screen made it easier for her to work. It's still plugging along today, stuck at 10.5.8 but still doing everything she needs it to. If they brought this design back today I'd snatch up a few without blinking.
