I have a new 3 TB Seagate GoFlex drive that I want to connect to my 2010 Mac Mini with 4 GB of RAM running OS X 10.7.4. I have tried to do it with a Belkin powered USB hub that I already had, but with both drives connected to it, along with a printer and a transcriptionist's foot pedal, the computer won't boot up from a Shut Down (or Restart). If I don't connect the Seagate until AFTER the computer boots, it will be addressed normally and I can use it. I have formatted it with Disk Utility as a Mac OS extended (journaled) drive instead of using the software provided by Seagate. Must the Seagate be connected directly to the computer? I have a Firewire HD that I use for my Time Macine back ups.
