When I revise texts that I’ve written, I often select text, copy it, and paste it in a different location. There’s a nifty shortcut that makes this easier when you want to select complete words. Place your cursor at the end of a word, then press the Shift and Option keys. Press the left arrow key to select to the end of the word to the left, or the right arrow key to select to the end of the word to the right. This shortcut also treats punctuation as words, so a press of an arrow key, say, at the end of a sentence will select the final period.
This warrants some clarification.
Pressing arrow keys while holding down shift should expand or contract the selection in the direction of the arrow key pressed.
Pressing arrow keys while holding down option should jump to the start/end of a "word" however the program has defined that concept.
So this tip is really just a combination of those two.
For what it's worth, Cmd-arrow should move to the beginning or end of a line of text, and also combine with shift.

Actually, in Mail, command-option-V will Paste just the style over text already selected. The Command Option Shift V pastes copied text but matches the current style.

Re: #8) Why not just double click the word? That selects the word. Triple clicking usually selects the entire paragraph, though this may not work in all apps; not sure.
Sorry if these have been mentioned in comments already.

I thought it did work in other apps, but couldn't say definitively. I feel like Office is the only place it doesn't work. Thanks for the script! :-)
