What would really be nice is a universal bookmark organizer. iCloud will work with Safari and iOS, and can work with Safari or IE on the PC. Google has their own system, and I think Firefox does now as well. If someone came up with a global organizer (and maybe there is one), that would really help.

I like this tip -- but I would point out that it's not so "unique" to Chrome as you seem to suggest; Firefox can do that too.

You are correct. Firefox can also show icons only in the bookmarks bar.

I am suitably, abjectly abashed for missing this - even after Scholle asked me if I was sure. Yeah, I was sure. I was sure wrong.

Thanks for the idea about using the favicon in Chrome. What do you do if the favicons are not loading?

Check out BookMacster by Sheep Systems. It takes a bit of work to set up, but in addition to syncing your bookmarks across browsers it can run a verification so you can get rid of outdated/no longer functioning bookmarks. You can download a demo from the Sheep Systems web site that is fully functional but time limited. Jerry is very responsive too if you need any assistance. :)

Could you please let me know how to do it? I installed an extension called Glims to show icons, but it would only show icons if you click on > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Bar, and this is not what I am trying to do.
What I would like to do is to have icons only, in the bookmarks bar, just like it's shown in the picture of Chrome.
I appreciate your help :)
