Is there any way to decrease the tab width in the tab bar, instead of having each tab spring-loaded to maximum width? I liked clicking the empty tab bar to create a new tab; now I have to use the "+" button way over to the right. On my 27" screen, it's a waste of effort.

Thanks!

I'm confused about about this new unified url bar. Currently I can type "macworld" and it will automatically fill in the http://www and the .com, will the new url bar do this or will it instead search google for macworld?

I'm right there with you. I hate it. I'm sure there will be a hack or terminal command out soon for it.

Safari seems to have lost the capability to read RSS feeds. I installed the latest Safari 6.0 and now when I try to open an RSS feed, Apple Mail opens. Regardless of setting Mail to use Safari as the RSS reader, it still goes to mail. This is very disappointing...!!!

Kyle, I'm upset with the change as well. Safari now runs like all the other browsers that use the extra step to flood you with advertising and websites you don't want to go to. Safari 6 does check your history so once you've gone to a website, entering the beginning of the URL will pop up previous sites and you can click on the one you want. I wish Safari had a preference to use the old style since I like to search in a search tab and open a site in the URL tab. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way as you and me.

Ever since Safari made its 6 beta debut, RSS has been AWOL. Until Apple restores RSS, your only option for RSS is a 3rd party reader such as Reeder or NetNewsWire. Makes no sense to me RSS has been removed. Why would Apple want to encourage Safari 6 to leave the browser to access RSS feeds? Is Steve Jobs rolling his eyes over this latest change???

Send feedback to Apple - http://www.apple.com...ack/safari.html

The unified URL-Search field is one of the main reasons I (and my colleagues) don't use Chrome. Two separate fields allows a lot more functionality. For example, with two fields, you can edit your search string while looking at the pages that were found. With a unified field (at least the way Chrome does it), you can't even SEE your search string, much less edit or re-use it in a new tab. I hope FireFox doesn't follow this trend.

Quite respectfully - get over it, and soon. I'm a dev, and your gripe was my first gripe when I downloaded the first builds. And, in ML, Mail loses RSS capabilities too. I moved on, and am using NetNewsWire now, which uses WebKit (Safari, etc.) cookies. I'm still not a fan of NNW, but it's working better for me than Safari or Mail ever did for RSS. I've got nothing to do with NNW, FYI, and am using the free, ad-supported version.

I don't think you're going to see RSS added back into Safari. Safari or NetNewsWire are good options.

I was wondering this very thing earlier. This is something that I have long loved about Mac browsers. It seems trivial, but was a nice time saver. I've often wondered why Windows browsers never did this. Sad to see this go.

Just use Command+T to open a new tab, I find this more convenient than clicking the "plus" button. ;)

The unified address/search field makes Apple's decision to put the reload button in the field an even bigger disaster :(
