You forgot to mention that it kills RSS. Even if RSS wasn't implemented well before, it still became a critical part of my (and I'm sure other's) workflow. Yes it deserved to die in Mail, but not in Safari.

I agree! RSS is a critical part of my workflow as well. If I have to buy another app just for RSS feeds it just seems a waste of time and money.

WTF is up with the tabs bar? I have several bookmarks which open several tabs related to the bookmark I want to check. example: I have one that opens several pages of mac news, another for video games, and so on. The tabs always changed in width, as you would close them up to a certain size. Now they are proportional to always going across the whole window, even just one tab! They have also removed the spinning circle that shows which pages are loading.

And seems they removed the "snap-back" feature since they unified the search and address field.

I wish apple would consult their users before making decisions to change things like this.

Where the hell has the Activity Window gone? One of the best features of Safari now missing.

Complete mis-step on their part. Time and again the Activity Window would show me which pages were tripping up while loading :(

I have always the IE unified search and url bar as these are two separate tasks. Now that Safari has gone this way it may be time to switch default browsers.

I think you forgot a verb there, but I'm guessing you don't like having a unified bar.

Personally, I don't get why just because it's technically a different task, it should be using a separate bar. You can still type full URL to go directly, or type keywords and load up a search page. And while I'm doing that, the "other" bar isn't taking up space, so I can see more of what I'm typing or what my current URL is.

Besides, you search so you end up with an actual URL that has the info. it's just another way of entering an URL, in the end, as I see it.

I'm thinking there must be some more interesting reason why you think the two should stay separate. If so, I'm all ears.

Now as it stands, your only major choice left is Firefox, and even that can accept searches in URL bar, although not by default.

Yep, I'm assuming as well that the forgotten was negative. While I admit I am not a fan of the unified bar, it seems to be the future of web browsing. It was a major reason why I wouldn't use Chrome. As you say, Firefox is the only major option left. I think this is the case where the world moves on and we must move along with it. I, for one, have decided to embrace the change... the change is good... the change is necessary... the change...

I agree. Were some users having trouble differentiating between the two? I happen to have liked not having to type the entire url into the address bar in order for Safari to open the site. Now I have to type more for it to do the same thing. Relatively useless IMO.

If anyone has found a Terminal command that changes this back, please post.

afari 6 is ok except for the change in default tab size. They are now ultra-wide and can't be changed. When you have only one or two tabs open they fill the width of your screen. This is very annoying and others have commented on this issue as well. Apple doesn't offer a way to make tab sizes configurable but they should. There's a third party solution called GLIMS at "machangout.com". Folks say it works, but I'd rather have a fix from Apple.

This is somewhat annoying to me from time to time. How do I set preferences to set it back to separate, ununified search bar?

I have to do lots of research, and I really need my extra google search bar. It's unfortunately a good reason to switch from Mac to a pc.
Sorry guys, but working with a mac becomes more and more a struggle.
