Here's a compelling reason to pick Skydrive over the competition: it's cheeper.

There's a technical reason why the upload status markers dont show up on the icons. It involves some API code hacking so clever that even apple didnt know how it was done. apple actually called dropbox to ask how they did it.

Please note that the source of that anecdote was Dropbox, and that no one at Apple has ever confirmed that. There are a lot of Dropbox company anecdotes the sole source of which is Dropbox.

I'll never again make the mistake of trusting my files to Microsoft. Whether their service is less expensive than others, or even if they paid me to use it, the company is too unreliable.

When OS 10.6 was introduced, I checked Microsoft's Live Mesh specs to be sure I could continue to use it after upgrading from 10.5. The Live Mesh site claimed it worked with Mac OS "10.5 and above." After I upgraded, my Live Mesh password stopped working and I had no access to my files. Two MS tech reps tried to convince me I was repeatedly typing my password incorrectly. They also assured me that Live Mesh was compatible with OS 10.6 "because the website says so."

I finally discovered on a Microsoft worker's blog that Live Mesh was incompatible with OS 10.6. There was no estimate for an update. There was also no way to post a comment on the blog.

I contacted tech support again and suggested that the inaccurate compatibility info be changed on the site. I checked both the service and the site a month later: Live Mesh still would not work and the site still indicated it was compatible with "10.5 and above." And I still had no access to my files.

Microsoft is too late with updates to provide viable service. To make it worse, communication at Microsoft is pathetic.

The main reason is I get to store 25GB of files in the cloud FOR FREE! I can use Dropbox, SugarSync and Google Drive free editions and can put a large amount of data in the cloud for free. It works well for backup storage, so what's not to like?

after read this "SkyDrive offers zero Finder integration beyond a system menu item, and that's a problem for Mac users, especially compared to Dropbox and Google Drive."

I do no even want to try!!

And comes this... "The Web app is very Windows-y,"

Thank you Microsoft!!! LOL!!

Its nice to see how these players go from here in the interim I have seen many users have different opinions about which is the best tool for spreadsheets. But on the contrary these are not only the players which are in this league. There are some new entrants which are looking very strong, one such player is CollateBox http://www.collatebox.com/ must watch out for this one.
Looks like these players will have to be very user friendly to become the best tool i the league.

When I launch SkyDrive I get an alert box.

"There was a problem accessing your keychain
Please check that the login keychain exists and that SkyDrive has access to it. If prompted, please allow SkyDrive access to your keychain." (Quit SkyDrive or Try Again).

Try again never works. How do I check my keychain for this?
