I want to make a copy of my presently running Snow Leopard —Mac OSXUpdCombo10.6.8pkg that I have saved in my Download File. However when I put a blank DVD into the CD/DVD slot of my iMac, the blank DVD doesn't show up on the screen. Tried iTunes and it will not import the blank DVD. So, how do I accomplish this task?? Furthermore, after I have put in a blank DVD, the only way I can eject it is to restart the computer.

I think before worrying about copying SL, you need to worry about what's wrong with your DVD drive.
can you play or burn to any DVD? cause it really sounds like its not working at all.

When I insert a DVD (or CD) it opens just fine. When I insert a BLANK DVD the disc does not appear on the screen. Tom

Creating a copy of Mac OS X simply means creating backup. I did the same task with my Lion before switching to Mountain Lion. Its a Mac cloning tool from Stellar which I used to clone Mac Lion. You can also use CCC. But mind that its not a donationware any more.
