Date position in Classic Mail

Can anyone explain why the position of the Date has moved from being in with From: To: Subject:? I'm getting eyestrain constantly flicking back and forth to the other side of the screen to find the date an e-mail was sent. Can I change the position of the Date heading in Mail when it's in it's "Classic" style?
