Not to put words in Ive's mouth, but ....
I think the more accurate statement should be:
Apple's "primary" goal is not money ... it's making great products.
Of course, if you do it right ... and Apple usually does ... then great products create great profits.

It's not the iPhone 5! In what possible numbering universe could it be the iPhone 5? Would that make the iPhone 4S the iPhone 4.5?

There was no iPhone1, it was called the iPhone2G. The iPhone2 was actually the iPhone3G, the iPhone3 was the iPhone3GS. These were not edition numbers but referred to network protocol.
The 3GS simply signified a Speedier version of the 3G; same with the 4/4S. iPhone5 will actually be "The New iPhone" and will be referred to as iPhone5 when "The New New iPhone" (iPhone 5S or 6) is released.
Confused? I sure am.

There's nothing confusing about it, once you look at it logically:
1) iPhone - nothing more, nothing less
2) iPhone 3G - named because of the addition of 3G network support
3) iPhone 3GS - 3G enhanced for Speed
4) iPhone 4 - the 4th iPhone model
5) iPhone 4S - 4 enhanced for Speed
6) iPhone (2012, 6th Generation - one or the other) - Apple dropps the suffix, just as they did with the iPad. It will follow the same naming system as every other Apple product of recent time.
Just like the Apple TV - 1st, 2nd & 3rd Generations.
Mac lineup - differentiated by season/year - ex. Spring 2012, Fall 2011 etc.
As shown above, the iPhone "5" is the 4S... 5th Generation iPhone
There's no logical reason for the 6th Generation iPhone coming THIS YEAR to be called iPhone "5". It won't be the 5th design incarnation (4th, actually), nor will it be the 5th iPhone model, nor will it support "5G" networks (lol)...
We can thank the Chinese rumor mills for giving everyone a wet dream over all things that were supposed to be a teardrop-shaped iPhone - and THEY called it iPhone 5 - that didn't have the happy ending of the usual wet dream.

hysterical: "showing once again that Microsoft’s showmanship and carefully constructed media strategy is unparalleled."
