I have a macbook pro that my girlfriend sat on. Now it doesn't close right. It still works perfectly though other than the not closing. I see many on ebay that don't work. Is there any issues with buying one that doesn't work and just swapping out all the guts?
Thanks.

Should be doable assuming you don't mind the risk of bricking it (always possibility when you crack it open if you are not careful). You can find all kinds of installation guides on iFixit. You can also potentially get "new" (actually used) case parts from them as well. I would suggest first looking at their guides to see how involved it will be.
The other factor is whether it is under warranty or not. Obviously, they will not make this repair under warranty, but it is more a matter of you likely voiding your warranty for other issues if you are still under warranty.
FWIW, I have bought replacement fans from them and installed them myself (this was for an original 2006 MBP), so their guides are rather good.
