I have a Mac Pro with four internal drives. I've encrypted the boot drive using FileVault through the Security & Privacy Preference pane. I've also encrypted two of my data disks using the Finder's Encrypt Disk command invoked by right clicking on the disk in the Finder. However, I'm puzzled as to how to encrypt my bootable backup. I'm given to understand that I can't encrypt a boot disk using the finder method. The only way I can think of is to boot from the backup and encrypt it as the startup disk but I'm not sure it would work and I don't know if I want to work from my backup disk for the day or two it will take to encrypt the disk.
Any ideas.
