Tune Up Mobile deserves a review too, really =]

So far hasn't failed on any song I let it listen to.

Can any ID classical music? I'm not that interested in performer, but more in title and composer.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I compiled my list before this app was released, so it didn't make it onto my radar.

I really wish Shazam (or others) had iCloud sync. Tagging is almost always done on my iPhone, but browsing, listening, and buying is about 50/50 between my iPhone and iPad. It'd be very useful to me to have my tags transfer automatically between devices.

Soundhound does have iCloud synching which lets you do exactly what you described. More info is available in the Soundhound review - http://www.macworld.....html?id=69195.

I tested all the apps using a variety of music genres, including some standard classical pieces (Beethoven and Mozart). Shazam seemed to be the best in this regard; it was able to get the piece as well as the orchestra most of the time.

Uh, how'd you miss Soundtracking? No limits, no ads, it's redonkulously fast, it's accurate, the sharing, etc.
It's nothing like those other ones, it has a twitter-like feed so you can discover from people that matter, not what IT thinks you might like based on popularity and playcounts. I have even discovered classical with it.
I have tried them all, and all the ones in this article are horrid or have some serious limitations (ads, fee, limits etc.)

In my experience, Shazam does a better work than SoundHound in finding jazz, blues and classical music, though recently SoundHound is getting much better in that department.

One can get acquire the SoundHound App for free if they visit Starbucks this week as it is the free app of the week and most starbucks locations have plenty of redemption cards readily available.
