Or you can browse to google.com and do the search to get a valid url...

Just use the share button, select e-mail and in mail select the option to only send the URL.

Is there any way to see a list of recent searches, like you could in safari 5?

I would have to say this is the worst upgrade Apple has ever thrown at us. What use to take one click now takes many. Plus it is more confusing. For example, I want to go to the Apple website. Safari 5, type "apple", hit return. You are there. In Safari 6, type "apple", look through 16 different menu items that pop up, find apple.com, (second from the last) click on that. You can also type ".com", 4 extra key strokes. so annoying!

Also, you can't click and hold the search bar to see recent searches. WTF? There are many times I try different search keywords, look through the results, then go back to a previous search because I liked the results better. Now I have know idea what those previous searches are.

One thing that drives me crazy is that I can no longer just type "apple" and it would go to www.apple.com but instead gives me search results. I just don't see how they can take such an awesome feature out. Wish there was some keyboard shortcut or terminal command to revert this back to the way it used to be. Such an annoyance!!

hmmm… I just type "ap" and immediately apple.com comes up as the suggestion, then I hit enter.

Wouldn't it be easier to create a bookmarklet with this:

javascript:prompt("Location", window.location.href)

Just copy that text to your bookmark bar and give it a name. Now when you need the URL click on the bookmark when you want to see the URL or copy the URL to the clipboard. It should already be selected but if not, you can command-a to select all.

Surprisingly, this only works for a regular search. Let's say, if you did a search on "porcupine" then hit the Images button, to get all the images results---it wipes out the search URL and replaces it with "porcupine" in the search box. I'm hoping this is just a bug and gets fixed in a subsequent release.

Great idea! It only works for the normal search though---not anything else. For instance, if I want to send the image search results to someone, it still just gives me the default Google search URL, even if I'm on the image results page.

You can drag the icon of the magnifying glass into an open email and the URL will be pasted. Same with any open text document like TextEdit or Pages. Drag the icon there.
