First App that I didn't install because of using only Facebook as a login.

What ejrb said. Couldn't possibly have been that the type of creative people who might be drawn to a Khoi Vinh venture would overlap significantly with the type who've bailed on Facebook.
BTW, I also just noticed that when I was prompted to login to comment here, social network sign-ins were featured up front and given pride of place. Ridiculous, really.

Welcome to the Internet. A lot of commenting platforms put the social media options first, some burying the alternate option a lot more than Macworld does..
I don't think the critical mass they were after is dependent on people who refuse to use Facebook. Seems like they wanted a mainstream audience and there's a lot more Facebook users in that pool than people who don't use it.

Downloaded it on launch day. Deleted it a minute later due to Facebook only login.

I never really understood the appeal of Mixel. It seemed like an app for young children, targeted at adults.

Dear Lascaus,
I think your reasoning to shut down Mixel is flawed and I would like you to reconsider. What is wrong with an app that appeals to a smaller group of artists? It is screaming creative and has exceptional merit artistically. You know - intrinsically good for the good of the all. Good art is inherently limited to a few people, always has been. Dumbing the app down will not help. I teach art and that is just the way it works. YOu have something wonderfully unique - please let it remain available even if people have to pay for it. Give us a choice, please.
