I tried out the iPad mini at the Apple store yesterday and it is amazing. I have an original iPad and third gen iPad and I almost whipped out my credit card to buy one on the spot. Anybody complaining that it doesn't have a Retina display should have their eyes checked, and maybe their head while they're at it.

I'm holding off for the LTE version, not for the cellular option but for the built-in GPS. A GPS with the portability of a 7.9" screen for $459.00, that I can easily carry around on my motorcycle, my car, on vacation and gives me access to all my music, e-mails and the web. Awesome.

I think the that in the case of the iPad mini, the LTE version is by far going to be the more popular version.

Which is why I'll be selling my 3rd Gen. iPad LTE and buying 2 minis...

I haven't seen the mini in person, but everything I'm reading about it is good enough for me and my fiance.

If you're already impressed, as I was, just by reading about the iPad Mini, you'll be blown away when you actually get your hands on one. Leave your credit card in a safe place unless you're serious about going home with one ... or two.

I'm sure that the resolution is "good enough", but I don't want to end up buying a new one next year when the Retina version comes out. I'd personally rather just hold off and spend my money once.

I stood in the Apple Store for two hours. I fell in love with it after a minute, but I spent the rest of the time testing it to see if I would be able to do everything I do on my iPad 2. The Apple Store was out of them, except for the 64 GB models, so I went home and ordered it online.

Don't be just "sure the resolution is good enough" go try it! You don't have to buy it, but I will guarantee you the iPad Mini's display will blow you away.

A display is measured by more than the number of pixels per inch the manufacturer can cram into it. If it were that easy anybody could make "awesome" LCD displays.

Buy whatever you like, but don't buy any of these devices sight unseen simply based on what the "experts" tell you is the best for you. You're not spending their money, you're spending your money.

You want to hold of one or two years on buying a computer, because surely it'll stop advancing significantly after that. I'm guessing you're new here. (*kidding*)

It sounds almost as if the mini LTE is a smartphone replacement--all you need is your mini LTE, and a $10/month feature phone. For those who don't relish paying for a high-priced smartphone data plan.

I agree that that the iPad Mini is a plausible replacement for smartphone. (I just upgraded from the iPhone 4S to the 5, so I can't pursue that route.) I spent time using the iPad mini this weekend at an Apple Store; it's a very nice device: the screen is sharp (sharp enough for my tired eyes), it's fast, and it's weight is significantly less that the regular iPads so one can hold it for extended periods without fatigue. It's also well suited for books and other reading material.

Even though I now have the iPhone 5, I will buy the LTE iPad mini mainly for it's GPS capability. I spend a lot of time driving, so I'm looking forward to installing and using Navigon, CoPilot, and GPS Drive on a larger screen.

I agree 100%! Waiting until January for financial reasons.

Has anyone had any luck with the order for in store pick up option? Would it be better to just head over to the store?

Especially since it's one of the only "7 inch" tablets to offer it!
The day Micro$oft makes something that doesn't suck is the day they start making vacuum cleaners.
