Do you suppose Lyons wears a T-shirt that says, "He who dies with the most Android devices wins?"

Dan wanted to be Steve Jobs, hence he invented Fake Steve. He probably hoped in his grandiosity that he could endear the real Steve, possibly even hoping for some tangible link to him to materialize. Steve Jobs may have had some contempt for pundit journalists (sensationalist link-baiters) as a lot and although he may have been amused by Fake Steve's antics (some of the stuff WAS really funny), Fake Steve was put out of his possibly lucrative business when his health declined and Dan may even resent him for dying. The real Steve lived on a different plane and for a grandiose narcissist like Dan the enviable and unreachable success of his alter ego is such a deep source of envy that he now detests everything Apple.

Nitpick: "reins", not "reigns", though I suppose we should say "long may he reign", as long as he stays out of our way.
