Curious... My Sys Pref bug is that it sometimes takes 30 seconds or more to launch! Nothing happens... then suddenly, it'll finally appear. This on more than one Mac running 10.8.2

I also have that Sys Pref delay. Do you have the disappearing mouse cursor as well? Shows up consistently when using the magnifying glass to get a color fill, pressing Mission Control or Dashboard keys on the keyboard brings it back.

This bug

>Another Apple article notes that “if you are logged out of your account while the display is sleeping,” the login window may have an odd and unwelcome appearance (see image at top).<

also pertains to users who are NOT logged out of their account. I do know because it happens to me all the time before 10.8. but never thereafter.

I assume it's a combination of OSX 10.8 and personal setting in the “Security & Privacy” and “Energy Saver” System Preferences. I just haven't yet figured out what the specific settings are....

I have the display bug on my Mac Pro (now "ancient" but still my main squeeze at home), but not on my new retina display MacBook Pro. I assumed it was my video card not happy with the newest OS, because it just appeared recently. Guess not!

I THINK what made it show up was changing my screensaver to "shifting tiles", but can't be certain of that. When I get home tomorrow I'll see if I can get rid of this nuisance.
