Hello, all.

This is my first post to this forum so I apologize in advance if my post fails to meet the proper format for the forum or if the subject has already been discussed here exhaustively.

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and did so primarily to use Reminders and Notes.

First, as I already stated, I upgraded to be able to use Reminders. For many years I use the Palm Pilot device and it came with a task or todo list application that was very simple to use but I never found anything similar for the Mac and iPhone until now. Much to my surprise and disappointment Apple has chosen not to allow users to sync their devices via iTunes. It seems to be forcing everyone to use their iCloud service. Many users aren't allowed to synchronize their data using cloud-based services because their data is either confidential or private. I've tried other applications but haven't been able to find anything that works in a simple manner. Some ToDo or Task applications require the use of their own cloud synchronization service. Others appear to be well designed until you begin to use them and realized they are unnecessarily complex.

All I need is a replacement for Notes that allows me to do the same – create notes on my Mac that I can sync with my iPad and iPhone. I also need a tasks or ToDo lists that allows me to create as many lists as I want, changed the due dates for different tasks independently and simply (tasks I don't have the time to do today I can just change the date for tomorrow) and keep some sort of archive (preferably with search function) where I can go to check on what date I completed a specific task.

Do you have any suggestions as to what third party applications would meet these criteria ?

Thank you,

Joe.

Just to be clear, you only want options that sync by way of an iTunes sync (i.e. by way of the sync cable)...NOT by way of any "cloud"/server syncing, correct?

Yes, this is correct. I am looking for solutions that allow me to synchronize my Mac with my iPad and iPhone via cable or Wi-Fi without the data passing through the Internet using a cloud-based or any other Internet-based service.

I am not aware of anything...every "to-do list" app and "notes" app that I am aware of uses some sort of cloud syncing functionality.

If I get a chance, I will do some looking around.

You could look at Missing Sync for iPhone by Mark/Space:

http://www.markspace...iphone-mac.html

You might not be able to use the native Apple apps on either the iPhone or the Mac, it appears they give you a potential way to sync To-Do/Task lists and Notes through a WiFi connection.
