On all our iOS devices we have the (1) badge on the Settings app indicating there is an iOS update to iOS6. Thing is we're all on iOS5 and don't plan on updating to iOS6. How do I get rid of the badge and stop the iOS telling us about the update? Also, the update appears as "Downloaded" on all our device's Software Update page. Does that mean the iOS has downloaded the complete update (approx 900mb) to all our devices?

To my knowledge, there is no way to get rid of the badge on the Settings app (except to actually upgrade). You will just have to ignore it. Beyond the badge, it should not bother you any further except when/if Apple releases a newer version (i.e. 6.0.2 or maybe 6.1, etc), in which case you might be one popup message.

I had not upgraded to iOS 6 until this weekend...I just ignored the badge. I did get a "popup" message when Apple released 6.0.1...just dismissed it and then went back to ignoring the badge.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected the badge on the Settings app was there to stay. Do you know if the update gets downloaded automatically to each i-device regardless of whether you're going to update or not? As I mentioned in my first post, the update says that it has been downloaded to my iPhone, touch and iPad even though I did not ask for it to be downloaded. Does that mean it's chewing up 900MB of storage? Thanks.

I don't honestly know. I kind of suspect that it might so as to speed the upgrade process.

Okay, thanks. I think it's time to visit the Geniuses.
