mac mail with exchange cannot view email in inbox

I use mail 6.2 as my email client in an MS Exchange environment. Prior to OS X 10.8.2 no issues. After update, mail will more often that no be unable to display contents of inbox for exchange mail. I don't see any reason for this to occur.

As a work around, I sent up a smart mailbox to view this years mail for the exchange mailbox.

Any tips/advise would be appreciated.d
