I for one think the Apple TV is nice, but needs some work. I have an X-Box 360, and my friend has a Roku box.

The X-Box 360 has just as nice an interface as the Apple TV (maybe better), more channels, and has web browsing. The Roku's interface isn't that great, but it has a ton of channels and web browsing. Further, it is half the price.

I just don't understand why Apple doesn't open the Apple TV up to its own App Store. It needs more channels to be competitive. Further, it should have Safari and iCloud integration. Apple needs to be more competitive here to keep ahead of Google, which has just released its own Box that has many of these features Apple is lacking.

It's kinda surprising to see Macworld STILL disregarding its wide readership around the world - obviously, the tip on "subscriptions" does NOT work outside US territories. To omit such a basic information is to mislead readers who do not reside in the US.

Wow, you have hit on a social/political issue here: The US (I am a citizen) tends to be insular. Why else would we have such things as the "World Series" that only the US takes part it.

Some nice tips. Here is another one: Don’t drop your Apple TV remote on a hard floor. It kills it. (So don’t fall asleep on the couch! Mr Ive and his team did not design this human drowsy flaw into so perfectly perfect a remote!) Which leads me to the biggest problem with Apple TV: the thin, slippery, cold, sharp edged, way too small remote! The only worse HCI ever sold by Apple was the round mouse. Yech! Another Ive failure. (How can he get so much right and then get the human hand to device industrial designs so wrong?) I wish someone would come out with a chunkier Apple TV “remote holder” that we could “click” the remote into. This would give the user a bit more weight and area to grip. It should basically be exactly the same size and shape as the Roku remote! But plastic, so if you drop it, it survives and does not leave a dent in the wood floor.

You can buy a Logitech - Harmony Link Home Theater Remote. You download the app to your ipad, iphone, android, or whatever device you have and use it as your remote. I too did not like the remote they supply. This remote app integrates all your devices:TV, Reciever, DVR, Ceiling fans, etc. It only costs 99 dollars but is worth every penny.

Hi is this any logitech remote or do you recommend a specific remote, we have pretty full on system here so doing away with all of these remotes would be bliss (TV, Receiver, Xbox, Apple TV, TiVo, BD player) ... Thanks :)
