I know reviewing is hard, but besides the game mechanics being solid (how can they not be?) there's very little said in this review that sounds positive.
3.5 out of 5?

I wondered about that, too. Why did they feel they had to stick to the "angry birds" metaphor when the StarWars franchise provides its own plot and motivations? Surely they licensed the stuff from Lucas (now Disney), so why bother with birds and pigs? Why not have created totally new creatures, and characters we know from SW, but using the the technology behind AB? Seems like they could have had a great product. Seems they were not confident enough in their gaming engine, and had to borrow some birds n pigs. As if StarWars isn't a rich-enough universe!

In what way was Bad Piggies "disastrous" as described in your opening paragraph, Mr. Holt? Macworld rated it 4.5 out of 5, and it scored a solid 83 on Metacritic, with the vast majority of the reviews in the 80+ range. In terms of sales, Bad Piggies still ranks well inside the top 10 paid apps for iPhone and iPad several months after release. So we have a critically acclaimed, commercially successful game that you somehow consider a disaster?
I'm no Rovio defender by any means (Bad Piggies was the first game I purchased from them, and I thoroughly enjoyed it), but a careless, clueless statement like that leads me to take your review with a large dose of salt.

I hate Bad Piggies also.
The rest of the Angry Birds series, I love.
Also, we are talking about tablet games, as opposed to PC/console games. Those games are growing just as stale. How many times do we need to kill Zombies. Halo 64?
And we are only talking about a $1.00 investment with Angy Birds Star Wars.
As compared to how much for major games????

I am a lover of Angry Birds and Star Wars. Sure, it may not introduce radically different game play, but as the adage goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. On a different note, I feel the need to point out a huge error in the wording at beginning of your article. When introducing the Star Wars tie-in, you said "the Finnish developers looked to the final frontier..." The choice to use "the final frontier" is an incorrect one, as it relates to Star Trek, NOT Star Wars. That would be a disaster for Rovio. Luckily though, they looked to a galaxy far far away.
