You should also activate the Firmware Password for you Mac.

Easily bypassed by those in the know, and confusing for the average bear. But for people who want to manage it, it's a reasonable option.

I'm surprised you did not mention Prey (http://preyproject.com/) among the other tracker applications. It's open source and its free account is perfect for non-professional users.

The article deals with "Security tips for Mac travelers." Prey doesn't run on Macs.
