The Macalope Daily: The long retail

Oh dear, Apple can never do anything right! Apple should do things the way everyone else does so they can fit in with the crowd.
However, didn't I hear that the recent launches of the iPhone 5 and iPad mini were both widely considered underwhelming because all the info about the devices had already been leaked to the press for several months? I read all kinds of comments that Apple wasn't doing anything surprising because they can't keep devices secret anymore.
There are always pundits, analysts and "journalists" who are ready to pounce on Apple for anything and everything it does or doesn't do. Apple has been dooooooomed for so many years, yet it's now the world's most valuable company. Apple Stores will never work, yet they now make higher sales per square foot than any other retailer, and there are hundreds of stores around the world, with more planned. The idea that a computer company could come out with a phone and compete with Nokia and Motorolla was derisively scoffed at until it completely changed the entire industry, spawning copycats galore. The tablet was a failed device until Apple showed how it could be done; now there are a boatload of clones that look and operate nearly identically.
Since its inception as a company, Apple has created markets for personal desktop computers, laptops, light-but-full-featured "air" laptops, phones, music players and tablets -- only to see their groundbreaking ideas be ripped off (not licensed) by competitors. Apple has nearly singlehandedly revolutionized our electronic world in a way no other company has even come close to. But they're still lambasted in the press.
Thank goodness there's a Macalope to set the record straight.

And thank you Macalope for so many imaginative and creative placements of words in a sequence to form a sentence to inform and delight one and all.
Mark Twain is quoted as saying, "Words are important. They make the difference in being hit by lightning or hit by a lightning bug."
