I tried to add some podcasts to my IPod Shuffle & though it is probably simple, I couldn't quite figure it out.

It would be nice to have a step-by-step write up for these procedures.

I really enjoy my Macworld subscription & I am counting on them to help us decipher this new puzzlement !

Looks like its time for a new book:
"iTunes 11 - The Missing Manual".

I really dislike the way Apple and others (think windows8) try to make what is really only an operating/server program become bigger then the product (Excel, Music, Films etc.) they are serving up. I would be very happy if iTunes would not take up my whole monitor space but only sit in the corner and be out of the way.

Imagine if Windows 8 took up the whole screen and "served" Excel in a little window. People would get pretty pissed.

iTunes11 is trying to be bigger than the simple server it is supposed to be. It is only a dashboard. Imagine if your car started to move the controls around.

No, iTunes 11 is not an improvement. Pop-up menus and little features scattered around the screen is not helpful. The old straight forward interface where everything was structured in a clean an logical manner was better. Apple knew this, that's why they left it alone for so long. I just hope that they do not fire the manager in charge of the new version, like they did with the Map App guy. I suspect his days are numbered however...

I am not so worried about the bugs in iTunes 11 (such as the fact that it keeps loosing connection to my devices). Apple will fix these bus in the next releae.

This question is more important for me.. when I go back to the old version how much longer will it still work? Does anyone have an idea?

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I've got a 13" Macbook Air and iTunes doesn't take up my whole screen and I can easily close the window entirely or switch to the mini-player if I want a smaller interface.

I'm SO annoyed with the new version of iTunes! I have a six disc changer in my Envoy - I like to make six new playlists - open them - then pull songs from the library and drop them where I want them on the six discs I'm making. I'm just horrified that they removed that feature - it's so aggravating to make even one CD now, since you have to keep opening the playlist inside the main window to see how many songs you've got room to add. I've never gotten over the fact that they took the "burn" button from the bottom right corner, and made you jump through more hoops, PC fashion, to get to the end result. I sent a note to iTunes Feedback through Apple - I think we need to bombard them with messages from those of us unhappy with this version of iTunes.
