I would like to import music from my usb turntable. Looking at the Sound settings in System Preferences, I only have "line in" as a choice in the "select a device for sound input". I have read several articles on this and the say to select "USB Audio CODEC"
in the "select a device for sound input" list. Do you know why it isn't on my list of devices? using OSX 10.8.2

The only thing that I can think of off-hand would be whether or not the USB turntable needs a driver...and maybe that driver is not installed. That is a complete stab in the dark, so I could be wrong.

Is the turntable plugged in (to both the computer and a power source) and, if necessary, turned on? Assuming this is one of the Ion tables, it should be a standard USB audio device.
