Hey folks, got a couple of issues here driving me nuts.

I. iTunes 11
This new version is a pain in my ass. I keep finding things in my Library that I never downloaded -- with the option to download. I keep finding things listed that I deleted, again with the option to download. Are these just annoying "gifts" or "conveniences" that are not taking up any actual space? And, navigating's nothing like the older version, which needed no fixing.

II. Address Book
I wanted to arrange listings according to first name, not last. I couldn't see how to do it (in hindsight, I should have investigated it further), so I decided to delete the last name and put the whole name into the first name field. Now, after months, I am still fighting with my Address Book contacts listing. It includes them in there AFTER I deleted them. E.g., John Smith would now be John Smith Smith. I have finally decided to just use first names, but even NOW I am still fighting with this, with Address Book replacing my updates with the older info after I go a few hours and reopen the app. I thought that maybe by updating my iPhone contacts and selecting the option to NOT let my computer change the info on the iPhone when syncing, I might fix the problem. I was wrong.

That is showing your "iTunes in the Cloud" stuff. Basically, anything that you have purchased through iTunes that is NOT downloaded to that computer. You can turn this off by going into the Preferences > Store and uncheck the "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" option. If you uncheck that option, it will only show those items that are in your local library.

And if you want the "sidebar" back for navigating, you can turn it on under the View menu using the "Show Sidebar" menu item.

You should be able to go into the Preferences > General in Address Book/Contacts (depends on which version of the Mac OS you are using) and select whether to sort by First Name or Last Name.
