MS Word and Mountain Lion

I can use the "share" as attachment to an e-mail feature on the version of Word 2011 that I run on my desktop, using Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and iCal: iCal opens a new e-mail with the Word file as an attachment, ready to address. But when I try the same thing on my laptop, running the same OS 10.8.2 and the same version of Word 2011, I get transferred to iCal, but nothing happens. Apparently, there is some information from Word that iCal requires but is not getting. Is this a Word problem or an iCal problem? How can I solve it?
