I agree with many of the points.

A couple of my primary complaints are:
- lack of instant access to a page or screen to toggle wifi, bluetooth, cellular on/off and adjust brightness
-inability to edit a typo in the beginning of a url (I can't seem to add in an s for https:// or missed character without erasing the url )
- no dial-around screens where you're on n# 7 or 12 and need to go all the way back left to #1, instead of swipe right and you're on the home screen
- self closing apps; it is annoying to have dozens of apps in suspended state, only to find your phone battery draining fast and you have to start closing them manually. I'd prefer infrequently used apps to simply close after an hour of inactivity instead of lingering around, cluttering the multitasking bar

Good points, except for apps organization. WP7-8 endless list of apps is not the best way of organizing apps, it is a mess. And to find apps by name, with the popular ones is not an issue, but when you have several, it is not a practical way.

Titles, so far, in windows 8 all apps start looking the same... Only one that makes same is the weather app :)

If you tap and hold you get the magnifying glass and cursor which allows you to position the cursor anywhere you want to add or remove specific characters.

If you hit the home button you are returned to the first home screen.

Can't find a app on an iOS device? Use the search screen. It lets you also find contacts, events, songs, etc.

That's nice, though it would be even more useful if it visually showed you where that app was (or at least which app screen it's on) as it launches the app.

Since OS X has been taking quite a few cues from iOS, why not have a vice versa? On the home screen you could have your dock and some widgets and maybe a couple 'favorite' apps, and then simply a launchpad button to fling open all your apps (sort of like app drawer). Double tapping the Home for the multitasking would still bring up the little bar but you could also just swipe up and it would expand to a mission control-like screen.

Just my idea anyway - I love my iOS devices but a little UI freshening up would be nice.

iOS 6 is like a iOS 5.2 update in my honest opinion. I agree with the author on a lot of his gripes, and I would've hoped iOS 6 would have been a bit more advanced "under the hood" and intuitive (text selection, for instance) on the user interface. Let's keep our fingers crossed they make improvements ;)

I agree wholeheartedly with all the points. I actually was so disappointed that I did not do my yearly upgrade and get the iPhone 5. I bought an S3 instead. There are a lot of downsides to Android, but having widgets and ability to toggle services like bluetooth on and off from the home screen made me switch. I know I could have jailbroken my iPhone, but I just got tired of the cat and mouse game of redoing the break with each new iOS release.

Great write up.

Adding a couple more tidbits.

With text selection, I'm guessing people frequently use select all, then cut or copy. Why does this have to be two steps (first "select all", then "copy"; why not just have the choices "select all and copy" or "select all and cut").

Also we should be able to edit services to the system-wide share options. (I don't use Twitter, but I'd like to add Instapaper...)

Lex. Buddy. You do so much backpedaling in the first four paragraphs, I've got to wonder how many state lines you crossed before you got going forward.

It would be great to attach files (other than photos) from within Mail when creating or replying to an email.

I hope Apple is reading articles of this sort. I agree that all of these issues are indeed "issues." Improvements would make using iOS easier. I especially agree with the first item with text selection and copy/paste functionality. But ALL of the suggestions are worthy of being addressed as soon as possible, as well as some of the other posters' suggestions. They would just make daily life that much easier. It would even be nice not to have to wait for the next full upgrade.

One issue I do have that NO ONE ever seems to mention is the music app and more specifically its use of music match. What I can't understand is why when you have music match turned on, you are now no longer able to swipe to delete a song. If you turn music match off, you can swipe to delete. Wouldn't logic say it should be the opposite? If I am never going to sync to a PC, how do I take a song off? It really makes no sense, not to mention the poor performance of the app in general. I could care less if my icons are in a row on a home screen, what I do want is functionality out of the things that are already there.
