What I really miss is a way to view playlists, with album art, that retains the order of tracks I've placed in that playlist. For example, imagine that I have three albums in my playlist. They are not sorted by artist, album, or year. Instead they are sorted by the order in which I want to listen to them, which happens to not be in alphabetical or any other order, other than - I wanna hear this one, that one, and then that one. If you view this playlist in "List" view, my albums are correctly sorted in the order I want. However, if I change it to "Grid" or "Artist List" so I can see some artwork, my three albums are now resorted for me without my asking. (by title, artist, genre, year or rating) They need to add Sort Order! I haven't seen anyone address this shortcoming. Maybe by clearly laying it out here, more forces will join my cause. And yes, I have reported this feature request to Apple.

The answer to the problem is simple, allow us to go back to itune 10. iTune 11 is garbage, it like 100 nerds together wrote a new iTune with out ever talking to each other. This thing makes apple maps look like a masterpiece of digital technology.

Just allow us back to iTune 10, what is the problem with us going back? Other than the arrogant of Tim Cooks apple.

Now that the Apple iTunes dev team is done with this I sincerely hope that they will focus on breaking iTunes up into appropriate, individual apps.

iTunes has become bloated and unwieldy, trying to be a jack of all trades and ending up a master of none.

Try explaining to a CEO (or even PC IT support folks) why everyone will need to have "iTunes" installed to properly use an iPhone and/or iPad in an enterprise environment and the conversations comes to a dead stop AND a dead end.

I continue to find it VERY irritating that this "improved" iTunes no longer has the option to display the "Column Browser" lists - Genres, Groupings, etc. - in COLUMNS, over next the the Library column, that WAS possible in the previous version of iTunes.

Means that we either use up huge chunks of space just to see any significant portion of those Column-Browser categories with few songs visible, or else have a reasonable display of songs, with a parsimoniously tiny portion of the Genres, Groupings, etc. lists.

All the views except the old columns view are worthless. It realy doesn't matter whether the rest of them work. Who wants "artwork" that just makes everything take more space and be slower to look at. It's like news videos on the web, I avoid them like the plague. Skimming test is soooo much quicker and easier -- unless or course you can't read and need to look at pictures.

Officially had it with all the new views. omissions & quirks in iTunes 11

I'm rebuilding our music library from the ground up based on a partial digital backup and highest quality imports from CD, and I just gave up on iTunes 11. I fired up the trusted old G5 with 10.7 and I'm ripping away at between 15-32x, column view with instant search filtering, with the selected item artwork at the bottom of the sidebar

Leaves the new macs without internal optical drive and iTunes 11 in the dust to work on your library.

Sidebar artwork preview. (iTunes 11 leaves get info without immediate view of applied art work) Instant search filtering. ...

I'll just keep ripping it on the good old iTunes 10.7 and then copy it over for playback to the deficient consumption oriented iTunes 11.

Hey, all you geniuses complaining about unwanted pictures, just go songs view, it's pretty much the old artist view. and press ctrl s to get your sidebar back and bam, same old itunes.

Additionally, I can't get the view to sort for Albums -- only Album by Artist, which splits up every album into every album artist, which is driving me nuts. If I buy or import an album I should be able to see the whole album. Fie!
