Macbook Pro logic board

I have been using an iMac since early 2007, but due to changing circumstances I'm now considering buying a Macbook pro, so I thought I'd do a little research before making the purchase. I logged onto the Apple website and then: Support >Communities >Macbook Pro. It was surprising to come across a thread (41 pages long) with very recent entries, but going back 2 years, detailing problems with MacBook Pro. Virtually all of the comments concerned a failed NVIDIA logic board.

Does anyone know if Apple are still using this logic board, or were the problems just confined to a specific MacBook Pro build?

All input appreciated.

For what it's worth, "logic board" is not the right term to use here. We're talking about a graphics processing unit, or GPU. The logic board of a computer is a printed circuit board that contains and provides the connections between the core components of the system.

Hello Bastion and thanks for your response.
The terminology that I used viz: "NVIDIA logic board" is simply repeating the terminology contained within the postings on the Apple website but I appreciate your better knowledge of the tech side of Macs.
