I must say, that was great article! Most people don't even know much about this area of the Mac OS X. Thanx.

Since for many file names I prefer to start with the date in ISO format (leading to names that sort properly by date), I have created the text substitution ym- which is replaced (this month) by 2012-12-
I can type in the day while the Mac is considering its difficult task of substituting.
Also, you may sometimes actually want to type © as Chris did in the article. As soon as the substitution happens, type Command-Z (or otherwise Undo) and you get the © back. I don't like where the Mac leaves the insertion point after that—this is a situation that I think Windows handles better (in those Windows applications that handle it at all).
